Proceeds from NAIOP-MD's 2006 picnic table building event, the associations annual community service project, were donated to Boys Hope Girls Hope, a national non-profit organization, reaching out to at-risk children and providing a stable home, positive parenting, and high quality education.

A check for $7,000 was presented at the opening of the Boys Hope home in Baltimore in March 2006.

The donation was used to build a computer room that provides a quiet area for the young men in the home to do homework and study in. "A critical piece of getting a top notch education is having the appropriate technology to access the Internet for research, school related stuff and social outlets. NAIOP-MD was tremendously generous in helping us to create a space for the students to come and use to help them become academically successful" Chuck Roth, Executive Director of Boys Hope Girls Hope explains.

The Picnic Table Building Project serves as both a community service project and a fundraiser. This year's event was a success, with commercial real estate professionals and local community members working together to build over 75 picnic tables for Baltimore County's Department of Parks and Recreation. Proceeds from the annual project are donated each year to a local organization that is educationally oriented.
