The best way to get the most from your membership in NAIOP-Maryland is to become actively involved with one of our committees, listed below. Find the group or subject matter that interests you, and then contact the Committee Chairperson to learn how you can join. Most committees do not meet in person more than once per month.
Awards Committee
Every other year, our chapter organizes its “Award of Excellence” program which recognizes developers and vendors for the highest quality and most innovative commercial real estate achievements. Select individual awards are also presented in various categories including “Broker of the Year” and “Lifetime Achievement.” This committee works with our association management company to complete a diverse set of projects including the generation of award submissions, judging, arranging corporate sponsorship and logistics involved with the awards banquet.
The next “Awards of Excellence” program is scheduled for spring, 2010 and we are actively recruiting for a Committee Chair and participating members. For additional information to express interest in joining this committee, please contact Tom Shaner, NAIOP-Maryland Executive Director at 410-752-3318 or tomshaner@assnhqtrs.com.
The Awards Committee alternates activities - on an every other year basis -- in conjunction with the Community Service Committee.

Community Service Committee
This committee alternates activities - on an every other year basis -- in conjunction with the Awards Committee, and is actively planning an event in spring 2009 at the Living Classrooms Foundation. On an 80-acre site in Baltimore City overlooking the waterfront, this committee will recruit volunteers to donate their time constructing park benches, picnic tables, trash receptacles and a canoe rack. The Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides educational and job skills training to local students, especially those that are at-risk.
The Community Service Committee creates programs that support the goals of NAIOP-Maryland, and their vision is to raise approximately $20,000 for this and other needy charitable groups, such as the Chesapeake Habitat for Humanity, through the generosity of our event sponsors and volunteers.
