On a national level, NAIOP works to protect its membership from legislative and government agency regulations that can hinder development. Locally, scores of bills are introduced in the General Assembly each year that may directly affect our industry. NAIOP-Maryland actively works on many of these bills to protect the interest of its members.

Your membership in NAIOP-Maryland is by way of membership in the national association. The national association is a 4,100-member organization headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, with 46 chapters in 16 regions covering the United States and Canada. The Maryland Chapter is organized to address regional industry interests.

Membership Categories
Principal Member - $920*
The first individual employed by an organization whose primary business is development, ownership, management of or investment in industrial, office, mixed-use or related commercial real estate.
* Dues that may not be deducted as a business expense: $251.73
Principal Affiliate Member - $365*
The second or subsequent person from the principal firm, within the same chapter.
* Dues that may not be deducted as a business expense: $95.06
Associate Member - $920*
The first individual, company or organization providing services or products to the industrial, office, mixed-use or related commercial real estate industry.
* Dues that may not be deducted as a business expense: $251.73
Associate Affiliate Member - $365*
The second or subsequent person from the associate member firm, within the same chapter.
* Dues that may not be deducted as a business expense: $95.06
Chapter-Based Corporate Membership - First 4 members $1,785*
Four or more individuals within the same company and same chapter qualify for this discount.
* Dues that may not be deducted as a business expense: $480.90. Additional members: $135 each.
Developing Leaders Member - $175*
To qualify, you must be an individual 35 years of age or less.
* Dues that may not be deducted as a business expense: $42.69. Must provide proof of age to qualify. Developing Leaders membership is excluded from qualifying a company for a chapter-based corporate membership.
Student Member - $69*
Any full-time student who is not otherwise full-time employed in the industrial, office, or related commercial real estate industry.
* Dues that may not be deducted as a business expense: $23.10. In order to qualifty as a student, you must be a full-time student, according to your college or university and you CAN NOT be a full-time employee in the industry. A copy of your student ID and your most recent transcript are required before your membership can be fully activated.
Academician Member - $400*
Any full-time professor who is not otherwise employed in the industrial, office, or related commercial real estate industry.
* Dues that may not be deducted as a business expense: $106.73. In order to qualifty as an academician, you must be a full-time faculty member, according to your college or university. You must send in a copy of your faculty ID before your membership can be fully activated.
Public Official Member - $375*
Any individual employed by a local, state or federal government or nonprofit organization.
* Dues that may not be deducted as a business expense: $97.48
Public Official Affiliate Member - $375*
The second or subsequent person from the organization joining the same chapter as the Public Official member.
* Dues that may not be deducted as a business expense: $97.48
