Jonathan Manekin, Vice President for Colliers International, has been selected to receive the 2014 Developing Leaders Award by NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, and is among only ten professionals to be recognized for this honor across the country. The award is reserved for commercial real estate professionals under 35 years of age who have distinguished themselves and show promise as a “future industry leader.”

Manekin becomes the fifth NAIOP Maryland member to achieve this distinction in the past six years. Alex Kopicki, Principal of Solstice Partners was selected in 2009; Brendan Gill, Vice President of MacKenzie Management was recognized in 2011; Taylor Fields of Knott Realty Group received the award in 2012 and Christopher Murray, Vice President and Principal of Mid-Atlantic Properties was the recipient of the Developing Leader Award last year.

A NAIOP-MD member since 2003, Manekin served as Co-Chair of the 2014 Gala Committee and currently sits on the NAIOP-MD Community Service, Developing Leaders and Membership Committees. In his position as Vice President of Colliers International he works with local businesses and organizations to achieve long-term solutions to their commercial real estate challenges, as well as with landlords and property owners to maximize their real estate assets.

“The entire NAIOP Maryland organization takes pride in this award and these multiple wins demonstrates the effectiveness of our mentoring program that partners real estate veterans with young and emerging professionals,” stated James Knott, Jr., President of NAIOP Maryland. “Jon’s exposure and involvement in the real estate industry started with his immediate family, with the Manekin name and legacy considered integral to the growth of the local real estate industry. His widely-recognized passion, enthusiasm and leadership skills position him perfectly to continue to make a positive difference in our marketplace and the community.”
