While Anne Arundel County’s General Development Plan (GDP) sets overall policy guidance, it is the nine region plans that assess Zoning Map designations and recommend changes to land use and other GDP amendments. The county is taking applications until July 18th from those interested in serving on the regional plan advisory committees for Region 2 (Laurel, Fort Meade, Jessup), Region 4 (Pasadena, Severna Park, Arnold) and Region 7 (Parole, Annapolis).
The scope of work and decision-making structure are set out in the Region Plan Handbook. The commitment from committee members estimated by the county staff to be 16 hours per month for meetings and preparation over a period of 18 to 36 months. The selection process is designed to provide representation for development and real estate professionals in addition to a diverse mix of interested stakeholders.
