David Bavar of Bavar Properties Group honored with Lifetime Achievement Award and Greg Masi posthumously honored with Volunteer Award
Baltimore, MD (April 23, 2010) – Seventeen local companies were honored in 31 different categories at last evening’s Awards of Excellence 2010 gala, sponsored by NAIOP Maryland and held at the Baltimore Museum of Art. NAIOP-Maryland has more than 300 members and is comprised of individuals working for real estate development companies, brokerage firms and affiliated companies such as financial institutions, architectural and construction firms and engineers.
In addition, David Bavar of Bavar Properties Group, LLC was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award, Joe Casey of Cushman & Wakefield and Owen Rouse of Manekin were co-winners of the Brokerage Award, Cathy Ward of Corporate Office Properties Trustreceived the Legislative Award, Chris Nevin of M & T Bank was chosen as the Service Provider of the Year and Brendan Gill of MacKenzie Commercial Real Estate was selected for the Rising Star Award.
Greg Masi was posthumously named the Volunteer of the Year in a new category created by NAIOP-Maryland in his memory. The former senior real estate advisor with Manekin passed away in fall 2009 and had been a member of the organizing committee for the Awards Gala since 2000.

- Interior public common area – Gensler for T. Rowe Price lobby
- Interior tenant fit-out two winners – St. John Properties, Inc. for Social Solutions – Baltimore Crossroads @95 and Merritt Properties, LLC for Firaxis Games
- LEED interior tenant fit-out – Gensler for Gensler Baltimore office.
Among business parks, the winners were:
- Industrial park – Duke Realty Corporation for Chesapeake Commerce Center
- Mixed-use community – David S. Brown Enterprises for Lansdowne Station
The industrial and warehouse category had the following winners:
- Warehouse – Emory Properties for Mid Atlantic Distribution Center, Building A
- Industrial build-to-suit – Merritt Properties, LLC for Bakery Express
- Industrial rehab – ProLogis for 1101 DeSoto Road
- Industrial LEED Building – Duke Realty Corporation for 5901 Holabird Ave. Chesapeake Commerce Center
The awards for best commercial real estate transactions were:
- Office high-rise – Trammell Crow for Franklin Center
- Office/Medical – MacKenzie Commercial Real Estate for Medical Pavilion @ Howard County
- Office single-story – Manekin, LLC for Chesapeake Science Point Charter School
