Christopher Murray, Vice President and Principal of Mid-Atlantic Properties, Inc. has been selected to receive a 2013 Developing Leaders Award from NAIOP, a national trade association serving the commercial real estate industry. Murray, a member of NAIOP Maryland, is among six commercial real estate executives chosen from professionals aged 35 years or younger across the country to receive this recognition.

This marks the fourth time in five years that a NAIOP Maryland member has received this distinction. In 2009, Alex Kopicki, Principal of Solitice Partners was selected. Brendan Gill, Vice President of MacKenzie Management, LLC was recognized in 2011 and Taylor Fields of Knott Realty Group was chosen last year.

Christopher Murray has been a NAIOP Maryland since 2007 and is presently the Co-Chairman of the Developing Leaders Committee. He also Co-Chaired the Chapter’s Awards of Excellence Committee in 2012. In his position with Mid-Atlantic Properties, he oversees all office and retail leasing for the commercial real estate development company, as well as leading the asset management and redevelopment efforts.

Candidates for the Developing Leaders award are evaluated on various levels including professional competency and accomplishments, career goals, participation in NAIOP, community involvement and overall merit. Murray will receive his award at a ceremony at NAIOP’s Annual Meeting next month in San Diego, California.

“Winning this honor for the fourth time in recent years indicates the extreme high quality of the next generation of professionals that will lead our organization,” explained Dianna Wilhelm, President of NAIOP Maryland. “Our Chapter places tremendous importance in creating situations for established real estate veterans to mentor young professionals. In addition, we are fortunate to have attracted individuals such as Chris that consistently demonstrate the desire to learn, improve their real estate work skills and expand their knowledge. Chris also possesses the work ethic to match this passion.”

Earlier this year, NAIOP Maryland was recognized as the 2013 NAIOP “National Chapter of the Year.”

NAIOP Maryland has more than 370 members and is comprised of individuals working for real estate development companies, brokerage firms and affiliated companies such as financial institutions, architectural firms and engineers.
