The NAIOP-MD Community Service Committee is in need of approximately 100 volunteers with green thumbs (additional finger colors are also welcome) to participate in a half-day event with The 6th Branch (T6B) on Friday, May 14 beginning at 9 am. Activities in “The Fields of Color” initiative, to benefit the New Broadway East Community, will include tilling existing fields, adding infrastructure and installing a four-season landscape package that will help beautify a rising neighborhood in East Baltimore.

T6B’s mission is to transform vacant and unmanaged lots throughout Baltimore City into safe and attractive space for kids to play, families to recreate and neighbors to convene. NAIOP Maryland intends to lend its support for a lot that formerly contained abandoned rowhouses and is presently a blight on the local community.

“We met several people associated with The 6Th Branch when they lent their support for our Baltimore Community ToolBank initiative and they impressed us with their hard work and professionalism,” said Nicole Smith of ECS Mid-Atlantic who, together with Todd Summerfield of Prologis, are serving as co-chairs of this committee. “When looking for a partner for this year’s event, we realized this group’s work to impact lives in Baltimore City and improve real estate aligned with our desire to give back to a worthy program in the community,” she added.

In addition to volunteers, the committee is securing corporate sponsors to lend support to the event. For more information, visit the Community Service webpage.
