James F. Knott, Jr. was honored with the national award for “Chapter President of the Year” by NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association that is comprised of more than 15,000 members through more than 50 chapters nationwide. Knott, President of Knott Realty Group, completed his NAIOP Maryland two-year term last December and now serves as Past President of the local association.

Knott becomes the first NAIOP Maryland President to be recognized for this award in the more than 30-year history of the local chapter and, when elected in 2013, was the youngest professional to hold the title of President.

Among his accomplishments during his term were: elevating NAIOP Maryland to “Large-size” Chapter status by increasing membership to more than 380 professionals; increasing the frequency of Developer’s Councils dinners including those with current politicians and individuals aspiring for political positions; adding programming including behind the scenes real estate tours of local projects; raising the profile and fundraising power of the Chapter’s Political Action Committee; strengthening the alliance with a neighboring NAIOP Chapter to further improve the NAIOP brand among legislators in Annapolis and forming an Ambassador Committee to help guide new members.
